Transport roster
Also called: cab roster · shift roster · transport requisition
A transport roster is the list of which employees need transport, for which shift, on which date, and in which direction. It is the input to route generation: routes cannot be planned from headcount alone, because the vehicles needed depend on who is actually travelling on that particular day.
In practice
- Rosters are confirmed by a cut-off time before the shift, after which changes become ad-hoc requests
- They carry direction — pickup, drop or both — because the two generate different routes
- Attendance is reconciled back against the roster so no-shows are visible and attributable
- Accurate rosters are the single largest determinant of vehicle utilisation
Why it matters
A roster confirmed late or guessed from headcount produces vehicles booked for people who do not travel. That cost appears on the invoice as a full trip and is almost never recovered.
