No-first-no-last-drop
Also called: NFNL · no first pickup no last drop
No-first-no-last-drop is the rule that a woman employee should not be the first person picked up or the last person dropped on a night-shift route — the two points at which she would otherwise be alone in the vehicle with the driver. Where it cannot be avoided, a security escort travels with her.
In practice
- The route generator orders stops so a woman employee is never at either end of a night-shift chain
- Where geography makes that impossible, an escort is assigned to that leg
- The decision is recorded against the trip, with a timestamp, for the compliance report
- The rule applies to the actual sequence driven, not the sequence planned, so a re-sequenced route has to be re-checked
Why it matters
This is the most common night-shift safety rule in Indian employee transport. Enforced when the route is generated, a non-compliant trip cannot be dispatched. Applied in a report afterwards, it describes a breach that has already happened.
